amber//APLIN education

Amber Aplin teaches two things: how to identify high-risk teeth before they break and restore them so they last, and how to restructure a practice so that every clinician works to the top of their scope.

The Gentle Touch dental practice is a working example of everything we teach. It is the world’s largest fully biomimetic dental practice and the UK’s only fully private therapist-led practice.

Everything Amber teaches, from a free download through to two days with your whole team in your own practice. Start wherever makes sense for you.

Free treatment planning framework

Which teeth to treat, in what order, and what treatment is recommended for each. This system is used by all clinicians, every day at The Gentle Touch dental practice. This can be printed and laminated and used as an in-surgery aide memoire.

Courses & training

Decade-lasting direct composite restorations. The biomimetic philosophy and the evidence behind it, red flag assessment, caries removal to an objective endpoint, immediate dentine sealing, layered composite placement and live observation next door. Accredited by the BSDHT and open to dentists and dental therapists.

Indirect and complex cases. Onlays and overlays, the permanent bio-base, managing cracks at depth, deep margin elevation and laboratory communication. For dentists who have completed Level 1. Dental therapists are welcome and gain a great deal from understanding the indirect workflow.

A one day implementation course for practice owners and their dental therapists, taught from over twelve months of real financial and clinical data. Delegates leave with a written plan for their own practice, agreed between owner and therapist before they go home. Business/ practice managers are welcome to join alongside their team free of charge.

One clinician, one full clinical day over Amber’s shoulder at The Gentle Touch, watching biomimetic restorative dentistry as it is actually done via a microscope and big screen. Then six months of direct access while you put it into practice.

Two days at your practice with your whole team, delivered by Amber and a team of four. Direct restoration on day one, indirect on day two, with the nursing and treatment coordination team trained alongside.

Not sure where to start

Most clinicians start with Level 1 and level 2 on consecutive days.

Practice owners looking at the business side rather than the clinical side usually start with Therapist-Led Care.

If you would rather talk it through, get in touch and Amber will recommend the best fit.

The way Amber teaches biomimetic dentistry changed how I think about every restoration. It’s not about speed. It’s about respect for the tooth.

Thank you so much, Amber. Genuinely the best course I’ve attended, for so many reasons, so well thought out in every aspect, you were all so welcoming and huge thanks to everyone involved.”

I know what long-lasting, predictable dentistry looks like. The harder question is how the wider profession gets there, within a system that was never designed to support it.

The question I always come back to is: how do we move towards dentistry that is long-lasting and predictable, and move away from the idea that it always has to be dentist-led?
